I am a Registered Massage Therapist legislated by the government under the BC. Health Professions Act.  My educational background includes anatomy, physiology, orthopedic and systemic pathologies, neurology, pain science, evidence-based manual therapeutic treatment, and ethics.

As a BC Healthcare provider and a recommended Practitioner by Pain BC, working at a mastery level, my treatment approach involves soft-tissue mobilization to support recovery and better health from pain and injury.

If you are dealing with chronic pain, injury, or stress and want to overcome barriers to better health, then you need to seek treatment with me.  Treatment is focused and intentional to support your recovery by releasing holding patterns and re-establishing the natural push-pull within soft-tissue to regain balance and function.

This is NOT a massage service.  This is hands-on manual therapeutics to restore balance and function using a variety of techniques including myofascial therapy, instrument assisted soft-tissue mobilization (iastm), and craniosacral therapy (CST).  Patients can bring activewear (e.g. t-shirt, tank top, sports bra, shorts) or dress down to their comfort level for treatment and draped appropriately with sheets.

As an Alternative Medicine Practitioner, my practice is science-based therapeutics utilizing manual therapeutics focusing on modulating the nervous system to support musculoskeletal recovery.  Treatment involves manually manipulating soft tissue to mobilize and release restrictions in an around the nerves, fascia, muscles, bones, and blood vessels down-regulating the nervous system to guide the body towards restorative function from health-related conditions, chronic pain, orthopedic injuries, and stress.

Re-establishing a modulating nervous system relies on balance and function of soft-tissues such as muscles and ligaments, as well as blood circulation, lymphatic flow, and nervous system function.  Improved tissue health supports recovering the mind-body connection, self-regulation for better health and ease with daily living.

My approach to treatment involves focusing on the nervous system to bring about neurophysiological change so the patient can feel a difference by

  1. Relieving symptoms, such as pain/chronic pain, soreness, discomfort, tightness, stress, and inflammation from misuse, disuse, overuse, trauma, MVA.

  2. Restoring homeostasis in & around the nervous system.

  3. Regaining balance & function, promoting ease of movement.

  4. Promoting a sense of ease: slowing down the heart & breathing rate, decreasing blood pressure, decreasing stress hormone production, and releasing muscle tension.

  5. Managing stress.

  6. Regaining the mind-body connection to support mental & physical balance.

  7. Regaining a sense of ease with daily living.

Evidence-based manual therapeutics is an effective therapy when

  • Supporting recovery from chronic pain, injury, stress to regain quality of life

  • Treating symptoms which have previously been unresponsive to other treatments.

  • Patients feel they need more comprehensive treatment.

  • Support is needed to achieve balance and function.

  • A patient wants improved mobility, strength, flexibility, and movement.

  • A person’s nervous system becomes hypersensitive after injury or trauma.

Conservative therapy for treating conditions such as

  • chronic pain

  • orthopedic injuries

  • motor vehicle injury

  • temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ/TMJD)

  • post surgery musculoskeletal imbalances

  • post stroke pain and nervous system reset

  • disc herniation

  • neuropathy

  • Pain

  • Tension

  • Fatigue

  • Tightness

  • Soreness

  • Stiffness

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Flexibility

  • Mobility

  • Muscle function

  • Nervous system function

  • Mental/physical health

  • Quality of life

  • Immune function

  • Joint nutrition

  • Sleep

  • Temporary worsening of symptoms.

  • Usually, any increase in pre-existing symptoms of pain, stiffness, bruising, aching, or discomfort will last a few hours to a few days

  • Other possible risks, complications, and side effects are based on individual's health

Be particularly mindful, individuals who are at the highest risk of getting very sick during the Covid-19 pandemic should consider not scheduling treatment:

  • over 65, individuals in a care home or long term care facility

  • underlying medical conditions – particularly if not well controlled

  • chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma

  • heart conditions

  • immunocompromised

  • severely obese

  • diabetes

  • chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis

  • liver disease
